This is a video on how I built hollywood style lighting into my new mirror for my makeup vanity, as shown in the room tour. It was actually a lot easier than I thought it would be! If you have any questions leave them below.
Here is a good explanation of how to identify the neutral wire if you don’t have a multimeter.
INFO ABOUT THE LIGHTS:
We used 28 Watt (40 watt equivalent) halogen lights from Walmart. If you’d like to know more about why we went with this choice let me know in the comments and I can make another video explaining lighting.

I don't understand why you didn't show the linking of the other light bar. Your schematic for the dimmer threw me off as it's at the beginning of the circuit. My next attempt is to connect it the way its drawn and maybe I'll get it to work then. The way it's connected here differs from it.
Yo man
I ❤ DIY
I just made a "Creative Vanity" w/ plenty of organization space for my wife, come see how I made it!!
details are on my channel
I connected my extension cords and everything, but the top (lid) there are exposed copper wires as well. What do I do with those? I’m not using them and idk is it safe to just leave them or do I need to cut them off?
How did you learn to work with electrical things? Research or did you go to school for it?
After you're done wiring the second light bar how do you install the cord that plugs into the wall to turn on the lights?
I would love to do this on my own, however, I'm so young and do not want to die as a result of electric shock so I would like to know since this tutorial is for women beauty purposes, how many of you actually tried it? It makes me anxious a little bit;
what was the list of supplies needed to get?
You can tell her husband is doing everything when it gets cut off and telling her what to do lol
can you please put a link to the drill and the craftsman drill bit thing thank you 🙂 and the same size nails you used and drill bit size thanks
Here is a awesome diy for vanity light mirror. I'll post below. But you can get your mirror at the size you want without a frame at Lowes or Home Depot. (That's where contractors go to get replacements and new construction I figured could get one too. But I didn't want to deal with the Being careful to not break it and take chance on getting cut as these type of mirrors are not beveled.) Can get one starting around $14 for a 20×24. I found my 32×27 mirror at a thrift store for $5. Hope this can help some. I've been through a lot of diy vanity light videos. This one seem the best to me URL below. Minus buying a framed mirror. You have to shop around. Frame mirrors are ridiculous high priced. I might put a video of mine on my channel lol I have nothing on my channel yet. One day lol I might have something on mine. It's going to be about beauty devices at first. Thanks subscribe to my channel, maybe soon I'll be doing giveaways.

good job. glad the drill did not catch your hair.
I am going to give this a try, with the assistance of my husband. I really admire a well rounded individual. I LOVE learning new trades and creating things that last years. quilts/wreaths/scrapbooks/furniture….and now electricity….I think you did a very detailed tutorial, and I feel confident I can make this Hollywood vanity mirror….Great Job –keep them coming!
Great video! #GirlPower
What was the width of the vanity bar you used?
Easy? lol girl i need to take an electrician's class just to understand this…
yea this is to smart for me to understand ? lol
Thats a lot of physics. I cant do it
If you made another one of these, what if anything would you change or make differently?
Yyyeaaah i think id just rather buy one or pay someone to do it; i dont mess with wires.
Aprox $80 for that when u could buy an actual already built lighting mirror with that. Idk in the us. But my lighting mirror cost £30. So switch to dollors it would be aprox $37/38
If you wanna simplify for people unfamiliar with multimeters, the neutral wire is always indicated by the insulation being ribbed, it's universal on all plugs. You can determine which wire is which with a glance, no need to confuse people unnecessarily. Good job on the mirror
What is the brand of the mirror you used?
wow…I came to see how to make my own makeup artist mirror and ended up with a physics lesson lol.
you go girl, mirror looks great. wish I could do this but unfortunately I'm not that Brainy!
me and Kayleigh like your mirror … and your room . Merry xmas . we love you
bye.. I can't do this ..lmfao
its really easy. i was scared to tackle it because of the wires but it worked out great.
Honestly, this is so much work I rather just buy one. I'm frustrated already from just watching this video but kudos to you for having patience!
Wow you can attach light bars to a mirror, GJ.
Easy for who?! Lol. Screw it, I'll just starve for a few months and buy one. Haha.
That's awesome that you're skilled enough to do this, though!
Awesome job! I'm building my fiancée one this weekend and your video really helped!
How many wires did you inserted on the hole?
Both your vidéos are gréât, and excactly what i havé been looking for. Thank you.
